Alan Wayne Dawson

Alan Wayne Dawson, 50, of Benton, left this life to join his Heavenly Father on June 29. He was born July 26, 1960, in Benton. Alan worked for UPS for almost 30 years and developed many close friends with both employees and customers. He enjoyed hunting, running dogs and fishing.

Thomas E. Smith Jr.

Thomas E. Smith Jr., 82, of Benton passed away Wednesday, April 11. He was born Sept. 4, 1929, in North Little Rock to the late Thomas E. Smith Sr. and Ruby Valentine Smith.

Hospital board takes step to buy Hospice House land

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital Board of Trustees has approved a motion to acquire property on which to build a residential Hospice House. The board met Wednesday at Spring Creek Healthcare.
